MANUD: Masoka Nutrition for Development
Strengthening food security. Building resilience. Advancing inclusion.
Strengthening food security. Building resilience. Advancing inclusion.
Masoka Nutrition for Development (MANUD) supports people facing particular challenges in displacement, especially women, children, young people and people with disabilities. Through practical training in regenerative agriculture, nutrition and environmental education, the refugee-led grassroots organisation strengthens food security, empowers people to shape their own futures and helps restore natural ecosystems.
The vision?
A resilient community that shapes its own future through local knowledge, regenerative farming practices and community-based structures.
In Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Uganda, the government provides each person with a plot of land. With drastic cuts to humanitarian food assistance, making sustainable and efficient use of these small plots has become even more important for strengthening food security and independence. MANUD shows participants how regenerative agriculture can help them grow their own food, restore ecosystem health and often even generate their own income.

Permaculture Training for Refugee Children
In January 2026, enough donations had been raised to fund MANUD’s first Climate Smart and Sustainable Agriculturetraining programme for children aged 10–15.
The four-week programme consisted of 16 practical, age-appropriate learning sessions covering topics such as soil, water, climate, gardening, nutrition and leadership.
The children created a shared permaculture garden, developed self-confidence and gained a solid understanding of healthy, locally sourced food.
Creativity, responsibility and teamwork were at the heart of the training.
